The first month is almost over - and the classroom routines are well established! As the weather becomes cold and wet, please remember to send your child dressed for at least an hour each day outside, and participating in DPA (Daily Physical Activities). The PAC meeting will be in the Library on Monday September 26th. All parents are welcome!
On Friday September 30th, please consider sending your child to school wearing orange. The Delta School District is recognizing the over 80,000 Aboriginal Residental School Survivors, and highlighting their stories on this day.
September 30 has been declared Orange Shirt Day in recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children's sense of self-esteem and wellbeing as well as an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that everyone around us matters. Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission Residential School and the account of Phyllis Webstad's experience of having her shiny, orange shirt taken away from her. The wearing of orange shirts is a way to honour the survivors of Residential schools and to affirm an ongoing commitment to reconciliation.
Thank you for the wonderful support of our Terry Fox Run! In addition to the active participation from the kids, we were pleased to raise over $200 for the Terry Fox Cancer Foundation. Well done!
